Donegal Film Office scoops 2016 Entertainment Award

Donegal Film Office has been awarded Best Local Film Authority in the 2016 Entertainment Awards hosted by TMT News.

According to Jennie Wilson Awards Executive at TMT News these Entertainment Awards highlight the creative individuals and innovative firms who have provided the entertainment world with new and cutting edge techniques.  She added they cast a centre stage spotlight on those who through creative flare, commitment and hard work have developed and shared their ideas.

In awarding the Donegal Film Office the Best Local Film Authority award Jennie Wilson said that their team of experienced industry professionals and dedicated in-house judging panels worked together to ensure that only the most exciting, hardworking and innovative firms and individuals were recognised.

The Film Office which is part of Donegal County Council, has been operating since 2003 and works in cooperation with location services at the Irish Film Board and participates in the network of regional offices country wide.    The Donegal Film Office has had numerous successes over the years in attracting films such as Grabbers, Shine of Rainbows, Dead Long Enough, Wakewood and continues to work with production companies looking to locate in Donegal.

Aideen Doherty, Manager of the Donegal Film Office is delighted that the Donegal Film Office has received this prestigious accolade.

“I think this is another great example of Donegal punching above it’s weight.  Living on the edge of Europe we depend on film to get Donegal seen by international audiences and use film production as a driver for tourism and economic development. The Donegal Film Office will be included on TMT’s Winners Directory and featured in their Winners Supplement which is distributed to over 80,000 professionals working in this sector.  This level of exposure is an excellent opportunity to continue to raise the profile of Donegal as an ideal film location”.

She added “the Irish Film industry is estimated to be worth over €550million employing over 6,000 individuals and when film and documentary crews come, they hire local talent and crews and make a huge contribution to the local economy.”
